Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

The Quick Cut: Girl goes looking for her missing grandmother. Girl meets guy who join together to go to Paris to look for missing grandmother. Chaos happens in the rescue process.

A Real Review:

This is the second book in the series and where in the first book they had retooled the story of Cinderella, this book added a second layer of Little Red Riding Hood.

Like many others before me, it seems that you either prefer Cinder or Scarlet. I definitely prefer Cinder over Scarlet - the character for me was much easier to relate to and laugh with. Although this book did come with it's very funny moments...

I promise not to make fun of your boyfriend anymore.
He's not my boyfriend!

On that topic, things get heated between Scarlet and Wolf, the street fighter that agrees to help Scarlet find her grandmother. I still can't get on board for these two, purely because it doesn't make sense story wise. They end up together out of convenience and due to the fact no one else will help Scarlet. Then suddenly they're together, kissing involved. After knowing each other for a matter of hours?

Get your hormones checked ASAP, you got an imbalance.

It's overall a good tale, but in every way - this story didn't really progress from the first book. The details could've been better with a bit more polish before publication to increase the ratings here.

My rating: 3 out of 5
