The quick cut: A girl who secretly is a heroine named Salvacion finds her ability to protect the town stretched when they find out about a dangerous magic that counteracts their own healing one.
A real review:
Magic comes in all forms, but what if it came in the form of a salt? If it could heal and bring growth again, would you use it? This is something that Lola's family deals with in their town of Coloma.
Lola's family came to Coloma in order to mine the sal negra - a magical salt that can heal the most mortal of wounds. Using the sal, her family brings flocks of people to their town asking for help. While Lola's family heals during the day, Lola secretly heals the town by being the masked hero Salvacion. While no one knows her true identity, everyone refers to her alter ego as a hero. It all seems good until one night a woman stumbles into town and tells them of sal roja: a salt that destroys as much as sal negro heals. Can Lola's family fight for healing? Or will they bring more destruction?
This is a really fun and mostly light story considering the material. Lola feels trapped by her life and it's expectations of being a proper socialite woman. She escapes from this by being a hero at night in the form of Salvacion. Multiple twists and turns comes along to test her ability to be that hero she wants to be.
The core of the story here is the relationship between Lola and her brother. Her brother knows her alter ego and helps her out as she tries to help the people. I wish I had that supportive of a relationship with my sibling. They truly do support one another.
The plot for the most part is enjoyable and fun to read, but it had its weaknesses. The romance in this one is sort of distracting and pointless. The ending is a real mishmash of things all happening rapidly, one after the next. A more polished ending really would've made this more entertaining as a whole.
A fun, female Zorro story with magical flair.
