The quick cut: A girl with the magical ability to stitch emotions and memories into fabric finds her life plans complicated when she falls for the guy whose wedding she is making the outfits for.

A real review:

We can't always control who we fall for, even if we know certain people are doomed to not be a good match. For Niamh and Kit end up getting to know each other, they'll experience this unfortunate possibility well.

Niamh is a talented seamstress with the unique ability to stitch emotions and memories into fabric. It's a skill that's given her plenty of attention, specifically now from the neighboring kingdom of Avaland. She's been contacted to make the wardrobe for the upcoming nuptials of their Prince Kit, a man who is prickly and abrasive. However, the more time Niamh spends around him, the more she develops a friendship with him. Will she make the clothes for his wedding or throw all logic out the window to get the man instead?

I really enjoyed the writing in this story. The way the author wrote the story made it easy to truly envision the world she built. For as detailed and immaculate the world building was though, the character development and chemistry was missing that level of work.

Niamh is a talented girl with magic in her blood, but that power comes at a cost: her lifetime. Evey time she uses it, it makes some of her life with it. So why does she do it? To provide a better life for her family left behind. That plan gets complicated by the feelings she develops and it forces her to look internally in a few ways.

Kit is abrasive and rude, which at first makes him unlikeable. You quickly discover that Kit is this way for a reason and in many ways, he's a prisoner. No one truly cares about him until Niamh comes along.

While Kit And Niamh develop a rapoire, the romantic chemistry never felt real to me as a reader. I wish that the pair as a couple was more believable because without it, this story fails to leave a lasting impression.

A fantasy romance that falls flat.

My rating: 3.5 out of 5
