The quick cut: A boy and girl meet at a cancer treatment and write their love story.

A real review

While we would all love to think that we have all the time in the world, the reality is that death comes for us all. For June and Jesse, it's a reality rapidly approaching as they both have leukemia.

June has a dream of being the novelist who writes the greatest love story of all time, but she's never been in love. Jesse has a bright future in football until his cancer diagnosis throws his entire future into chaos. Each one is desperate to find a way to live and agrees to an experimental treatment that can potentially save their lives. Will they find new life in each other?

While this story is very cute, it doesn't really manage to do anything other than repeat all the same plot mechanisms for sad stories of the past. They know their chances of surviving cancer are low, but they find a new life in each other. I did wish that they had more insight into the type of leukemia they both had.

June is your typical romance obsessed teenager. She wants to feel the emotional rush of being enraptured by another person. She really wants to leave her mark on the world too.

Jesse had a bright future and was putting in all the work when cancer took it away. Watching him realize that it won't happen is so sad, but it's also a process of watching his focus change. His life becomes less about football and more about June.

The only other criticism I have is the transitions between reality and the writing. It wasn't always easy to see where they were. It would've been better to make those transitions more clear.

A cute cancer story of love.
