The Quick Cut: A guy finds himself attracted to a woman in the middle of a business deal. Chaos ensues when their attraction sets off an unfortunate set of circumstances. A Real Review: Thank you to Sahara Roberts for providing the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Life can be great and blissful in moments, but painful and terrifying in others. When things go wrong, it often happens in multiples and it can feel like you're stuck in a hole. How do you escape when the darkness threatens you? This is the struggle for Iris. Iris has had so many things go wrong for her. Her father disappeared after her mother died of cancer, leaving her desperately trying to keep the family grocery store together. She also finds herself in a bad situation with her father's girlfriend, whose son is blackmailing her and taking small pieces of her every time. It all looks so gloomy until she meets Dante: a man with underworld connections that she can't help but feel attracted to. Can they save each other? The upside to this book is that it is a short one, so if you're looking for a quick read - this is the perfect selection. That being said, because it's so short the chemistry and plot feels a bit rushed and makes you wish it was fleshed out more. Although the story is cute, you can't help but want to see more details. Iris is relatable because the life she finds herself stuck in is one that is a blend of bad luck and bad people pushing her into what they want. Many of us make poor choices when our closest are threatened. In her case, it lead to some seriously unfortunate consequences and seeing how Dante responds to that only adds to their chemistry. A sweet short romance that leaves you wishing there was more. My rating: 3.5 out of 5
