The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala

The Quick Cut: A female assassin and a male soldier find their lives entertwined when they meet in an unexpected way.

A Real Review:

Assassins are a mythical category of hero that typically get looked favorably upon in the literary world. They hide in the shadows, have exceptional skills, and go around the globe doing things many of us can only imagine. It's a CRAZY world that we imagine but never truly see. However, in the case of Esha & Kunal - that world seems dull in comparison.

Esha is an assassin known by the world as the Viper, highly skilled and focused. However, when a soldier named Kunal runs into Esha in the midst of escape in her latest assassination - these two find that their lives are more wrapped together than they expected.

I wanted to like this book so badly, but instead found myself bored most often. The world building isn't the greatest because instead of creating a landscape, everything is simply stated. The characters fell flat for me after a while which is unfortunate considering the strong start they had in the form of their meet cute.

Look to another book for the thrill of a secret world.

My rating: 2.5 out of 5
