Stay Sexy & Don't Get Murdered by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark

The Quick Cut: The hosts of popular podcast "My Favorite Murder" talk about their lives and lessons - including how the podcast began.

A Real Review:

If you're anything like me, there is a good chance that you have felt judged at some point for being imperfect. Whether it be work, relationships, or even clothing choices, it's almost as if everyone expects you to play a specific part. So when you run across something that tells you to screw that and to embrace the fact that messing up is a part of life, it's a moment that speaks to you. You're allowed to get things wrong on the way to where you're going.

That is exactly what Karen & Georgia have created in their podcast "My Favorite Murder". In many ways, it's a celebration of your flaws while discussing some of the worst crimes to have happened. I'm one of the many Murderinos to listen every week (much to the chagrin of my family and anyone who ends up in my car). It's an environment where it's alright to be yourself and admittedly confess to enjoying true crime with a smile.

This same environment in their podcast was magically also created in their book. I don't know how they do it, but they found a writing style that matched their talking style while also letting you see more details about their lives. Even though some of the details were things I already knew from discussions on the podcast, they go into greater detail on some aspects in their writing. These two also talk about other areas never talked about before, telling secrets like you expect to hear from a close friend.

I loved their book as much as their podcast because it balanced the scales perfectly of hilarity and honesty.

My rating: 5 out of 5
