Pull Me Close by Sidney Halston

The Quick Cut: Girl passes out in a club after a panic attack. Guy club own takes girl home. Guy and girl have drama together before getting to know each other. Sparks fly.

A Real Review:

I don't typically review books that fall under the category of adult romance or more commonly known "chick lit", but this one really blew me out of the water. It not only transcends the genre here, but it tells the tale of anxiety and PTSD in exceptional fashion here.

Katherine is a girl who never leaves her apartment. However, when one night it couldn't be avoided, she ends up at the popular club Panic where she ends up panicking and passing out. Insert our male lead Nick - who jumps to the conclusion of drugs.

Because who doesn't love assumptions and drama?

These two are about as different as it gets, but they find a way to make it work. Due to Katherine's insistence, she makes it clear what her true problem is to Nick. He finds a way to understand where she's coming from and help her break out of her anxiety boxes.

Sidney's interpretation of PTSD and anxiety here is really phenomenal, especially considering how she handles the lifestyle and treatment. This type of disorder has a wide range and her version of it is well handled, including the subsequent issues that Katherine struggles with it. The only downside is that her turnaround happens a little too quick, but again - this is a book. What do you expect?

For a romance book, this one handles tough issues like PTSD exceptionally. The two leads Katherine and Nick find a way to progress not only as a couple, but as characters. Beyond the rapid progression issues, this one is a winner in my book.
